About the area

Yackandandah is a heritage listed gold mining town settled in the 1850s. It has a rich history, thriving local community and an impressive list of activities, groups and events for the small 700 populous.

Tree lined streets and beautiful heritage buildings play host to all necessities such as clothes shops, bric-a-brac stores, local cafes, newsagent, Foodworks supermarket and more recently the community owned petrol and produce station, YCDCo.

Nestled in the foothills of the Stanley forest the scenery and environment offer a wide range of outdoor activities including photography, 4 wheel driving, horse riding, bike riding, fishing, camping and gold panning. Just a short drive will see you arrive in the majestic Victorian snow fields if you enjoy skiing, tobogganing or just a beautiful view by a cosy fire. If summer is more your scene then the Hume Weir (just 30km away) offers great boating, skiing, and swimming - the fishing is great all year round.

Yackandandah is located in the Indigo Shire, surrounded by small farming communities and 3 major cities all within an hours distance. It proposes the ideal location for people wanting the benefits, employment opportunities and conveniences offered by large cities while offering the quiet and picturesque home environment and lifestyle.
